THIS IS NOT THE END...

...BUT THE BEGINNING OF SOMETHING NEW

Day-to-day we have been walking towards the end of this subject, and now that we're almost finishing it, I think that it is the right moment for us to share the conclusions we have drawn to after all our lessons and hours of reflections.

Here I´m going to set out some of the conclusions that I’ve reached after all these weeks of lessons:

1. The perfect methodology does not exist yet.  Each group of students is different and therefore, the methodology to be used must be different in each case. Furthermore, not all the aspects of the same methodology are appropriate to be used in the classroom, you must choose the points that you are agree with within each methodology to create a new one.

2. Education needs a big push to help it to change and here we play a very important role because it is difficult that these educational problems change from the top. This is why we must begin to work hard from the bottom place we hold to change this problem, it is a difficult but important work to do.
These are my personal conclusions but… What do you think? What are your conclusions?

To conclude this entry to the blog, I would like to share with you two videos but for sure, I advise for the most sensible people that before watching the videos, they caught some tissues to dry one's tears...
This first video shows me that we must move on and fight for our dreams; fight for them overcoming all obstacles that are put before you, because impossible is nothing.

This other video, that I think many of you have seen, reflects the attitude of the children. We should be a good example for them because they do what they see.

  1. Oh Jesus Noe, this has been the best way to end up the course. Well it is not really the end because for sure that we will keep on sharing our ideas between each other in the future, but it is like it were an incredible way to make us thinking about what this course has meant to us and what we have learnt.

First I would like to say that I totally agree with you with these two ideas. Along this course we have learnt that we have to be very self-confidents and try to learn from all different methodologies and to be open-minded. As you say, it does not exist the perfect methodology, because the perfect one for me it does not have to be the perfect one for you, and this depends as well of your children. Each child is unique, so you have to adapt the different ways of teaching to the context of the class.

About the second conclusion it is true that we have to try to change the negative aspects of the actual education society. Maybe before starting this subject we already had in mind some of the ideas discussed along these 3 months, but thanks to this way of learning we have been able to think deeper about these facts or simply learn new things we have not stopped before to think about thanks to other fellow´s opinions and ideas.

About the videos they are just unbelievable. The first one shows us that we never have to give up anything by any reason and we have to look always at the bright side of life, like the Monty Pitons say in their song :) About the soundtrack listened in the first video (The Fray- How to save a life, a gorgeous group by the way, I definitely recommend listen to this group)it gaves the impression of the sense of human life and about the charity that still survives in some people. This is the real sense of life, the preoccupation against others without looking at ourselves.

About the second video I think you are right Noe jajaj. I think all of us have already seen it because I would swear that we saw it in one subject from the university (do not ask me which one). It reflects that children always copy adults´ attitudes, as they look at them like role models, so it does not matter where we are (in a class with our pupils, at home with other children or in a public place), we always have to be careful about our actions, because every action has its consequence, and we can make emerge bad habits in some children.

To sum up I would like to say that for me surely this has been my favourite entry ever written in the blog, because maybe I have not learnt anything that I could applied to a methodology, but the background I have been able to think about has been huge, so I can just end up saying....
    THANK YOU NOE!!!!

PS: I know that I never have to choose one idea against the other, and more taking into account if I ma in a class, that I definetely cannot choose one opinion (or one drawing if we are in an arts and crafts class) of my pupils, because this could make the others feel bad, but I think we are mature enough to accept all opinion, and my opinion is that this entry is my favourite one, but because for what it has made me reflect on.

  2. I totally agree with you Noe. From my point of view, there not exist the best methodology. Each methodology has its own characteristics and each one has negative and positive aspects. On the other hand, we are gonna be teaching for many many years and our group of students are gonna be different. Each group will need a different methodology to apply on them. Methods are theoretical but the practice is completely different.
As I see it, we cannot choose one method and master on it, we have to learn them all in order to select the most profitable aspects to introduce in our classes so that we help our students to develop, learn and grow.

The society is changing day by day, nowadays there exist hundreds of resources more than fifty years ago. We do not have to stick on one method which was generated one hundred years ago, we need to actualizate them. The best way to learn is by practicing. In that moment, we will realize of our mistakes or of our right decisions.
Making mistakes is one of the best ways to learn, improve and not to make them again.

Time runs! It is incredible how the last subjects of our degree are almost finished.

I agree with your conclusions Noe. We have learnt many things from Methodology in English but the one I like more is how important our influence as teachers is going to be. We are going to spend one school-year with a group of children and the things they are going to learn from us might be unique. Children can learn that lion means "león" using a dictionary, they don't need our help to do that, but we can help them to remember it by connecting the word with a sound, for example. We are there to motivate them, to make them love English and to guide them. All this is going to be unique for our students so we are going to have a great responsibility, something that we don't have to forget at any moment. "Make your influence positive" says the second video and we as teachers have to have this idea clearer than anything else!!

  4. I am totally agree with Noemi. From my point of view, the best idea all have learnt in this subject is that not exist a script that we have to follow to teach. To teach with the perfect method depending on many things that as a teachers have to know previously.

Other important thing that I personally have learnt is that learning a concept a unit or something like that it is very important but it isn’t the most important thing. There are a lot of important things to learn in the school like: if two people have a problem, talking is the best way to solve it, they have to share, they have to respect all the people independently of their characteristic, their religion, their ideas… and in school there isn’t a specific subject to learn all of these so we have to include in our way to teach (methodology).

Nowadays the “society” wants to create “computer” instead of people but we are here to try to change this and I hope that one day we can get it.

People have to grow not only mentally but in all the different aspect of life so we as future teachers should have this idea very clear.

P.D: I have the hair on end when I remember the first video. It is very deep and it makes you to reflect about all aren´t beautiful and easy although it seems but we have to get ahead without any barrier prevents us.
